DYLAN'S LEGACY

His Love :
....of life
There has never been a child who loved life more than Dylan. He awoke every single morning excited about what his day would bring. When he would wake up, he was always happy and ready to go. He seemed to notice and take interest in everything around him. There was little that he did not see. People were drawn to him like moths to light. There was something special about Dylan that peole wanted to discover. When they wanted to laugh, they would come by and visit Dylan for a while. When they needed a smile, they knew where to go. Dylan would stand at the end of his bed and announce to the entire unit... "Hello Everybody!"

....of being outside
Dylan's most special place was outside. After he woke in the morning, he would play for a while inside but then he would go to the door, look around and say "Outside!" When you would agree, he would tear out for his room, throw open the closet door, and jump up and down saying, "Outside, outside, outside!" There was a swing set in the front yard and Dylan would make a bee-line for it. He seemed to be more content while swinging than any other place. He loved to feel the wind. Also, he would listen intently for any sound from above. When he heard a distant airplane, he would put his tiny hand to his ear and say, "Hear it?" It was as if he knew that he was destined to be "above" and that he focused on any "sound" or "word" from above. We now know that he did have a special connection with God.

....to look up!
One lesson that Dylan taught us all was that we needed to be looking up! In many of the pictures on this site you will notice that Dylan is looking up and "watching." There are days when our hearts hear Dylan say, "Mom! Look up!" "Dad! Look up!" His message can be to us all. We spend so much of our time on this earth looking around and down...but so seldom do we look up. Dylan knew that there were many amazing things in this world if we will only take the time to LOOK UP!
 ....that smile
Dylan possessed the most beautiful smile, the deepest and ever-present dimples, and incredible blue eyes. Many of you who knew him will agree. His laugh was contagious and in his pictures you will see that he was happy most of the time. The lives of the people Dylan touched will never be the same.
....of people
There are so many people whose lives will forever be changed because of Dylan. People were amazed when they met Dylan because he did not seem to be the child everyone was saying "had such a serious heart defect." He did not know he was "sick." When I would tell him to "calm down, you are sick", he would look at me and reply, "I NOT SICK!" Dylan possessed a vocabulary far beyond his years probably because God knew that he would need it to communicate with the people he met before he left us. He could tell you the names of his medicines and what they did. You could ask him what medicine he took and he would say, "Milrione." If you asked him what it did he would answer, " it increases the contractility of my myocardium." We are so thankful that Dylan really was not "sick." We were able to be with him, play, laugh, love for far longer than so many parents and families are allowed.
 ....of family
Dylan came to us on a special mission. We never dreamed that we would have to let him go so soon. We were, however, able to see God work through his life and bless not only us but so many other people also. Our family sensed that time might be limited so we were able to do the best we could to take advantage of the time we had. The only regret we have is that it might be a earthly while before we meet again. We are assured that when we meet again it will be forever...no more sickness, no more tears, no more separation.
Dylan had a special prayer that he said every night. He would bow his head, clasp his hands in prayer and say,"Lord, give me a new heart, AMEN." Dylan now has that new heart. He is in Paradise...running, jumping, playing and doing the things he could have never done down here on earth. How could we possibly wish to take that from him...even if it were possible? God tells in his Word that "love is forever." This assures us that the love we have for Dylan and the love he had for us is always with us.
I LOVE YOU ALL!! I'LL SEE YOU WHEN YOU ALL GET TO HEAVEN!!
